Delivery Note

What is delivery note?

A document accompanying a shipment of goods that lists the description and quantity of the goods delivered. A copy of the delivery note signed by the buyer or consignee, is returned to the seller or consignor as a proof of delivery.

Prerequisites

To create a Delivery Note, there should be a Sales Order under process.

Sales Order:

Lets us consider the Sales Order shown below to create a Delivery Note.

To note here, the Delivered Column in item grid will show NO until the Delivery Note is created for the Sales Order. 

Also the Status of the Sales Order will be NOT DELIVERED until the Delivery Note is created for all the items in the Sales Order. [Refer Screenshot below]. IF there is a partial delivery, then the status will be PARTIAL and if complete Sales order items are delivered , then the status will be DELIVERED

How to create a Delivery Note?

To create a Delivery Note, 

• Goto  Sales ---> Delivery Note. Click on Create New button.
• Select Sales Order for which the Delivery Note will be created from the drop down box.  All the details of the Sales Order will be copied to this Delivery Form.
• Select the Location to which items will be delivered.
• Click Add button to create.

What happens if Delivery Note is made for partial items?

The screenshot below shows the Delivery Note of the Sales Order in discussion. The item grid shows only the two items which are not delivered. The items delivered will not be listed when the same Sales Order is selected again.

 Now the Delivered column in the item Grid of the Sales Order will change from No to Yes for those items that are delivered as you can see in the screenshot below. 

The Status of the Sales Order will be OPEN even when two items are delivered out of four items of the Sales Order.

Since all the items of the Sales Order is not delivered, the Sales Order will be listed in drop down box in Delivery Note Screen and items that are not delivered will be listed in the grid as shown below.

What happens if Delivery Note is made for all items?

When Delivery Note is created for all the items, the Delivered column in Sales Order will change from No to Yes for all the items.
